Mario became Vivage’s first General Counsel, January 2016 after nearly a decade at a law firm providing counsel to a wide variety of organizations, including nonprofits, advocacy groups, and healthcare companies. With experience across a broad spectrum of areas, Mario helps to juggle many issues for Vivage, from contract and real estate negotiations to litigation management. Prior to joining Vivage, Mario argued and won multiple cases before the Colorado Supreme Court and 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and was recognized as an expert in the fields of constitutional, election, and government affairs. A veteran of multiple political campaigns, including a senior staff member for Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign, Mario retains an acute interest in public policy matters and legislation. Mario served on the 2011 Colorado Reapportionment Commission, received an inaugural Out Front Power Award for his equal rights advocacy, and is an active Kiwanian, Make-A-Wish wish granter, and former member of the 1st J.D. CLE Committee. He is a 1997 Boettcher Scholar and double-buff, receiving his undergraduate degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his J.D. from the CU School of Law.
